JD has more than 20 years of experience providing professional design and support services for private developers, cities, counties, and Departments of Transportation.

JD’s approach to project management and engineering design is to take ownership by communicating early and often, thinking beyond just the Civil scope, and coordinating with the owner, design consultants, and jurisdiction. Further, he approaches every project as if it’s his money being spent.

JD has provided Schematic, Entitlement, and Design level services to many clients across California and the country. He has experience in effectively working with public and private clients, reviewing agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Experience
His experience includes engineering and design for multi-family residential, commercial, and telecommunication sites, roadways, highways, trails, sidewalks, and sanitary sewer, water and storm drainage conveyance systems.

He has extensive experience with varied clientele across Northern California and specifically within City of Sacramento and surrounding counties and cities. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in seven states: California, Hawaii, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah.
ACEC - Sierra
JD currently serves as a Director on Board of Directors for the Sierra Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC-Sierra) and has previously served as a leader in the American Society of Civil Engineers Sacramento Section where he led the effort to update the website and communications for the entire section.
Expertise in Telecommunication
J Design & Consulting Engineers provides assistance in site development processes for new-build telecommunications facilities by providing civil services for ZDs and CDs as well as construction support services. The scope of work for projects we have worked on has included site layout, ADA grading, fire access route geometrics, turning analyses, driveway site distance analysis and exhibits, preliminary site feasibility studies, preliminary and final grading, drainage, erosion control, and utility layouts.
We have supported our clients in working with Caltrans, Cities, and Counties by providing support through encroachment permit plan preparation and process support.
Additionally, we have specific project development experience in access roads meeting CalFire SRA Fire Safe code, establishing base flood elevations in flood zone A, and performing hydrology and hydraulics calculations for streams and culvert crossings. In the process of performing services, we have saved tens of thousands of dollars in project construction costs and cut months of time off of project schedules by reducing plan reviews and plan check comments.
